After several years conducting business with suppliers worldwide we have learned that a purely auditing process is

flawed and doesn’t promote long-term solutions. Sustainable improvements can only be achieved through

education, training and support.

In an effort to facilitate this capacity building process Fruit of the Loom, Inc. partnered with several Third Party

Monitoring firms and other organizations to develop a Capacity Building approach. This new program has been

designed to help our suppliers improve understanding of the Fruit of the Loom Inc, Code of Conduct and local,

national, and international law. Specifically, the focus of the Continuous Improvement Program services and tools is

on facilitating the process of identifying root causes, developing management systems solutions, and managing

implementation with the intended result of empowering managers and workers to take a proactive role in

compliance.

A supplier participation in an improvement program is a strong demonstration of commitment and support

towards social sustainability. A typical continuous improvement program involves a deep dive into the supplier’s

processes and management systems meaning that no corner is left un-turned. A program of this caliber exposes the

origins of labor malpractices and offers solutions to achieve sustainable social compliance.

All suppliers are welcomed to take part in our Continuous Improvement Program. Although the CIP program will

be optional we encourage all manufacturing suppliers with an unsatisfactory or needs improvement status to take

ownership of their social compliance commitment by participating in this initiative. Our suppliers will be

responsible for requesting and scheduling all Continuous Improvement services with the service provider and for

covering all associated costs.
